Great Keppel Island

When you set foot on Great Keppel Island you will feel as though you have stepped into an island paradise where the 'squeaky-clean' white sand flows between your toes and the ocean is sparkling before your eyes.

With the protection of a fringing reef, the waters surrounding Great Keppel are amazingly calm making it perfect for all types of water sports.

The island is approximately 240 hectares in size and is home to 17 pristine white-sand beaches and an interior rich with native flora and fauna, all waiting for you to explore. Take a short beach walk or two hour hike up to the island's lighthouse.

Camping is allowed on the Keppel Bay Islands National Parks of North Keppel Island, Humpy Island, Miall Island, Middle Island, Divided Island & Pelican Island. Relaxation options on Great Keppel Island include setting yourself  up on the beach with a big beach towel and a good read, or perhaps experience a peaceful walk along a deserted beach.

Getting Here
From Rockhampton you take a 30 minute high-speed passenger ferry to the island. Ferries run daily between Rosslyn Bay and the island, which makes a day trip another easy choice.
