Food & Wine
With the best of both worlds, from coast to country, it is no wonder that Capricorn's cuisine is as diverse as the region it comes from. Sure, Rockhampton is known as the Beef Capital of Australia but beef is not the only thing on the menu in the Capricorn.
Whether is is a casual lunch off fish and chips by the sea, a trademark succulent Rocky steak at a local pub or real Aussie 'tucker' cooked over an outback campfire, you are sure to love the local flavours. Here, so much is produced locally. Spend a lazy Saturday morning shopping for sun-ripened mangoes, pineapples or lychees at the local markets or choose a Queensland mud crab or a kilo of prawns and enjoy peeling and eating them one by one.
Start the morning with a tropical juice from one of the many cafes and coffee shops in the region and end the day wih a relaxing cold beer and a live band at one of the local watering holes.
And if it is relaxation you're after, the Capricorn Region offers a range of escape options from idyllic rainforest retreats, rugged national parks and deserted beaches to luxury resort getaways.
